Self-Defense & Resilience Training in Arnhem
Looking for self-defense or resilience training in Arnhem, the Netherlands? At Karate-Do Goshin you learn Goshin-Jitsu within a complete martial art, not a standalone course of a few weeks that then stops. You keep repeating the techniques until they stick — which is exactly where short resilience courses often fall short. Goshin means self-defense, Jitsu means technique.
Goshin-Jitsu is about direct, practical defense. Classes cover things like:
- Release techniques — freeing yourself when someone grabs you (wrist, clothing, throat).
- Defense against strikes and kicks — blocking while striking back at the same time.
- Throws and joint locks — putting an attacker off balance and controlling them.
- Breakfalls — falling safely without hurting yourself.
These techniques are a regular part of the standard karate classes, alongside Kihon, Kata and Kumite. All movements are controlled and deliberate, so you practice safely together. The first 2 weeks are free to try, no membership required.
Your first time
Our classes are for everyone aged 16 and up, beginner or advanced. You don't need to be fit — everyone trains at their own pace, and the sensei builds the training around that.
- Clothing: sport shorts/sweatpants and a T-shirt are fine, you don't need a karate gi yet.
- Changing room: available in the gym.
- Registering: just let us know in advance via info@goshin.nl, so we know you're coming.
